Halloween
The holiday doesn’t exist in Greece, none the less turkey. I totally miss carving pumpkins, dressing up, and watching scary movies on the one day i can handle them!!!

Nate Cohen has just informed me that Europe goes on daylight savings a week before the U.S. Which makes absolutely no sense to me whats so ever, but none the less, nate says its so….so it is.

Today was a phenomenal day. We visited a local farm to see how they made olive oil, flour.etc and to cook our own lunch. We made cheese pie, souvlaki, greek salad, stuffed peppers, stuffed grape leaves, bread, and baklava. It was absolutely amazing. The meal was followed by some impromptu greek dancing. (which by the way, is awesome sauce times a million) After the rather delicious meal and a...

A lesson the greeks have taught me: think about today not tomorrow. (as you can tell by their crumbling government) the way they live their life is by living in the moment, with the people who they are with and not thinking about what may happen the next day or who may be in your life. Family will always be there, but friends will come and go. Spending time with the people you are with today will...

mehh i have finally gotten sick while abroad. I didn’t think it was possible to get a cold in the Mediterranean . Its rainy and cold outside which woud we awesome if i was prepared for that type of weather because it reminds me of portland, but i am not. It was suppose to be in the 70’s for the month we were here, but really its about 40 with rain and wind. Where we are staying has no...

I have lost my baptism virginity.
It has happened.  I went to my first baptism, Greek Orthodox none the less. It was soooo awesome. Strange, but awesome. The first weird part was that i was expecting everyone to be dressed up. Not true. The immediate family was, but everyone else was wearing jeans and casual shirts. Second weird thing was that it wasn’t a quiet audience. Everyone in the church was talking amongst themselves...

It has finally rained. The family-run hotel that i am staying in for the next month is right along the ocean and i am realizing how much i miss watching the rain. Lesvos is a rainy island in general so i am excited that for the next month i will get to wake up, and fall asleep, to the rain. The best part about this hotel is that its lobby has a piano, tiny cafe and faces the shore. Nana, the women...

Lesvos
It may be one of the most beautiful islands that i have ever been to. We are staying in a  family run hotel on the coast surrounded by what looks like a rain forrest. It is quiet and beautiful. They family has a little cafe by the water with a piano, tiny library, comfy reading chairs and fire place. Its raining right now, not the gross down pour rain, but a light sprinkle as the sun rise. I may...

I'm on a boat
but for real. Currently i’m sitting in the lovely lounge of the European Express ferry to island of Lesvos. It is a 12 hour ferry (7p.m-7a.m) and i am about 6 hours in. For the past 3 hours i have been playing cards and my brain in kinda mushy. The great part about these ferry rides and day trip travels in general is that we have hours and hours to play cards. I think in the past week i have...
